In November 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, was in the UK to deliver a address at the Oxford Union.

The event was interrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to travel that night, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down speech don't think I can make the flight we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a Gulf Air departing at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing assistant".

These messages were published on Wednesday together with over 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the deceased convicted sex offender.

The release by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's name is redacted. The BBC has been able to confirm his involvement by cross-referencing the dates, occurrences, and locations referenced.

For instance, Epstein discusses arranging a plane from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the messages, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union two days later.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

Epstein's Assurance to Bannon

Bannon was one of Trump's key advisers in the run up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but stepped down from the administration in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a documentary about Epstein before his passing and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of recordings. In a live taping of his show recently, he stated: "We plan to release the film, the five-part series, next year - early next year."

But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier occasionally seeming to act like a aide.

A few days prior to the conversation in which Epstein seemed to arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the highest-paid booking agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are quite capable asst", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Not Included".

Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you're taken care of."

British Affairs Discussed in Messages

The published communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing British political matters in that year.

On the same day his address at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit thing this morning with Nigel, Johnson and Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a reference to Theresa May, the struggling UK prime minister at the time, he added: "They are attempting to move on. May today / tomorrow…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "In my view remaining as much as you can in the UK. Ideal- so people get the dedication of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein asked: "Can Theresa May survive". Bannon answered: "I don't see how however the people over here have little courage" and noted "Boris ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - someone has to take charge".

May was eventually removed in May 2019 after surviving two votes of lack of support in December 2018.

A representative for the political party informed media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter took place.

The Congress will decide soon on whether the Department of Justice should release all its records concerning its investigation into Epstein, who passed away in prison in that year.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was renewed this week after the release of more than 20,000 pages from his estate.

Some of those referenced the former president, who has repeatedly denied any impropriety. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but says they parted ways in the early 2000s, two years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
